The age-old ringing of the Pancake Bell continues at St. Mary’s in the Wood every Shrove Tuesday. The present bell used is hand-held and rung from the steps of the church (opposite the Library) from 11am until noon. After an hour’s ringing everyone enjoys hot pancakes and a chat in the church. Originally the bell in the steeple in the now-ruined church was rung from the belfry. Please join us if you can and help with the ringing of the bell.
