Members and friends of St Mary’s in the Wood gathered at Unity Hall, next to the church building now being refurbished and repurposed as part of Leeds Colleges and rang out Shrove Tuesday from 11am to 12 noon on the historic handbell and with electronic chimes in remembrance of old when the bell was rung to remind the people of Morley to use all their good food in the pantry in preparation for fasting and observing the 40 days of Lent.
